I found my freedom from alcoholism 27 years ago when I believed Gal. 2:20. In these last years I have learned a lot more about who I am in Christ and more important who Christ is in me. That is the issue.
“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27 NIV). The the glorious riches of the mystery has been made known.
It is Christ in me and He is living in me as Galatians 2:20 so clearly says, “I have been put to death on the cross with Christ; still I am living; no longer I, but Christ is living in me; and that life which I now am living in the flesh I am living by faith, the faith of the Son of God, who in love for me, gave himself up for me” (Gal. 2:20 BBE).
That is a game changer. That is the earth shaking, liberating truth that sets free. I have never seen anyone get free who did not believe Gal. 2:20. There is nothing to do. It has been done! IT IS FINISHED!!! As Jesus told Jairus the Synagogue ruler when they told him his daughter was dead, “Don’t be afraid; just believe” (Mark 5:36). If Christ is living in me, what else could I possibly need? We have it ALL! We have EVERYTHING!!! We very seldom feel like it, look like it or act like it, but that doesn’t alter the TRUTH in any way.
We absolutely have to get our focus off ourselves and our behavior and our feelings, and look to the TRUTH, who is Jesus who said, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32 NIV).
As Martin Luther said, “The law says ‘do this and never is it done’. Grace says ‘Believe in this One and it is already done’ “. AMEN!
